Sarah has a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Southern Methodist University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from The University of North Texas. She is experienced in treating adults with depression, anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, PTSD, physical/emotional/sexual trauma, addiction, anger management, and grief.
Sarah is passionate about working with members of the LGBTQ+ community and understands their unique experiences. As a professional trained in Affirmative Therapy, she validates and advocates for the needs of sexual and gender minority clients. She has worked with transgender clients seeking HRT and gender-affirming surgeries. Sarah has experience working with couples on healthy communication, recovery from infidelity, and co-parenting. She also enjoys working with former and active duty military members with PTSD.
Prior to joining DCTC, Sarah spent much of her time dedicated to those recovering from addiction. She enjoys working with individuals to attain and maintain sobriety. Sarah has treated addiction at an inpatient residential treatment facility, Intensive Outpatient with the Dallas probation system, and a hospital based dual diagnosis program for those with both mental health and substance abuse diagnoses. Sarah has a very direct, no-nonsense approach which she believes works well with individuals struggling with addiction. She understands the connection between mental wellness and addiction and believes they cannot be treated separately.
Sarah pulls from a variety of theories when working with individuals and couples. She is trained in Internal Family Systems, Bowenian Family Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to name a few.
In her free time, Sarah loves spending time with her family and fangirling.
