Megan is a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern and a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist Associate with a master’s in counseling from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. Prior to joining Dallas Counseling and Treatment Center, Megan worked with Girl Scouts Beyond Bars to prevent recidivism and intervene upon the cycle of familial incarceration of adolescent girls with incarcerated mothers. Her previous experience also includes working with middle school girls focusing on self-esteem-related issues and with an Austin-based non-profit providing emergency services to immigrants and asylum seekers in the United States.

Megan specializes in working with pre-teens, adolescents, adults, families, and relationships in the treatment of depression, anxiety, emotional and sexual trauma, grief, and addiction, including family members impacted by addiction. She has additional training using Gottman Method and family systems to encourage communication in Relationship Counseling, effectively reducing feelings of resentment in relationships. In her work with adolescents, Megan focuses on self-esteem building skills, healthy communication, and understanding emotions. She has experience treating teens with ADHD, those who have witnessed domestic violence or abuse within the home, and those who have experienced trauma themselves. Most recently, Megan has pursued advanced training in the utilization of DBT.

Megan was born and raised in North Texas before relocating to Austin for the last decade. In her free time, she enjoys relaxing with her Dachshund mix, Henry, traveling, reading, and spending time with her family.
