Malton is a Licensed Professional Counselor who began his career at Timberlawn Hospital where he developed a passion for working with clients suffering from depression, PTSD, anxiety, addiction and mood disorders. Malton went on to work for other local treatment centers taking on numerous tasks including leading a team of behavioral health clinicians who provided treatment to individuals with both mental illness and substance abuse. He also created curriculum specifically for young adults with these issues.
Malton specializes in treating adults and teens in the areas of addiction, mood disorders, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, LGBTQ, life transitions and emotional trauma. He is also experienced in providing couples counseling using the Gottman Method and he is also a Prepare and Enrich facilitator. Malton pulls from a variety of theories when working with individuals including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectic Behavior Therapy and Solution-Focused. Malton is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) which is utilized to treat anxiety-based disorders including PTSD, emotional/sexual trauma, and negative beliefs about oneself. Most recently, Malton has pursued advanced training in the utilization of DBT.
In his spare time, Malton enjoys listening to music, watching comedy films, spending time with friends and most importantly, helping others. He is the youngest of 6 children and is very close with his family. He has also enjoyed volunteering to work with elementary students who struggled with reading comprehension and math at Dallas ISD.
