Lauren graduated from The University of Houston- Clear Lake with a Master's Degree in Counseling. Lauren recently relocated from the Houston area to join DCTC. Prior to joining the team, Lauren worked for Family Service Center of Galveston County where she provided trauma-focused counseling to adults, teens and children who were victims of crime. She also worked at a day hospital with adults and an elementary school where she provided play therapy to young children.
In therapy, Lauren utilizes a client-centered approach where she works to meet the client where they are. She works to establish clear goals and assists the client to find the best method to accomplish those. She has experience working with adults, teens and children with a variety of treatment issues including depression, PTSD, anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, personality disorders, sexual abuse, life adjustment issues, gender/identity, addiction, relationships, family and other areas. Lauren is experienced utilizing play therapy with children as young as 5 years old.
Lauren uses Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to treat anxiety-based disorders including PTSD, emotional/sexual trauma, and negative beliefs about oneself. She is also trained to provide Relationship Counseling as a Prepare and Enrich facilitator and with her training in the Gottman Method. Additionally, she offers Christian faith-based counseling if specifically requested. Most recently, Lauren has pursued advanced training in the utilization of dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT).
In her free time, Lauren enjoys traveling, trying new foods as well as spending time with friends, family and her Havanese pup, Milo. Milo is a therapy dog that is happy to assist Lauren in her work.
