Darya, better known as Dasha, has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Texas at Dallas and a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of North Texas. Dasha has worked for Mosaic Family Services providing individual and group counseling to a diverse and multi-cultural population. She provided treatment to young children, teens and adults including the utilization of expressive arts and play therapy. Prior to that, she served as a counselor at The University of North Texas' Counseling and Development Center where she worked with individuals on a wide variety of issues. Dasha has also worked as a Mental Health Technician on a psychiatric floor of a local hospital.
Dasha is experienced in treating adults and teens with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, stress-related disorders, and individuals struggling with grief or who have recently experienced a major change in their lives. She has experience providing pre-marital counseling as a Prepare and Enrich facilitator and is trained in the Gottman Method to provide Relationship Counseling which helps improve communication and reduce tension and resentment. She is trained to work with children as young as 3 years old where she utilizes play therapy techniques to help them communicate. Dasha is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) which is utilized to treat anxiety-based disorders including PTSD, emotional/sexual trauma, and negative beliefs about oneself.
Dasha was raised in Ukraine until she was 13 years old when she and her family relocated to the United States. This unique experience provides her a special level of insight into what it is like to adjust to new situations and surroundings. This has led her to develop a special interest in working with individuals and children who are going through life transitions which are causing them stress and anxiety. This can be children struggling with divorce, adults who have moved across the country for new jobs or relationships, relationships ending, and other life changes. She also enjoys working with the LGBTQ community. Dasha is equally fluent in both Russian and English as she was raised speaking both languages.
In her free time, Dasha loves to read, dance, and travel. She is always trying to learn something new as she values a continuous personal and professional development. Dasha is very open minded and interested in learning about each client's individual belief system.
