Charlie is a Licensed Master Social Worker under the supervision of Megan Carley, LCSW-Supervisor. He specializes in treating many types of addiction including sex addiction, psychological/emotional/physical trauma, mood disorders, anxiety, depression, personality disorders, PTSD, grief and loss, and sexual identity issues. Much of his experience working with grief originates from his inpatient work related to addiction and mood disorders. Charlie also has a great deal of experience treating eating disorders, anger management issues, and chronic pain, specifically in connection with opioid use. He enjoys working with the LGBTQ community, especially issues relating to sexual identity.
Charlie utilizes a client-centered approach and pulls from various theories such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Dialectic Behavior Therapy. He is experienced working with relationship issues and is also trained in the Task Model, which allows him to specialize in treating sexual addiction, compulsivity, love addiction, and codependency. It also increases his ability to work with those who have experienced betrayal or infidelity within their relationship. Most recently, Charlie has completed all of the requirements to become a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) and is currently waiting on his certification to be approved.
Prior to joining DCTC, Charlie provided counseling at an outpatient private practice as well as two inpatient residential drug and alcohol treatment centers. Counseling is a second career for Charlie after spending 20 years in the corporate sales field. He is a veteran of the United States Air Force and is experienced in working with veterans-issues including PTSD and readjustment after deployment.
Charlie brings 30 years of personal recovery to his practice. He also pulls from his personal experiences in the high stress world of sales, which provides insight when working with high level executives. Charlie, originally from New York City, enjoys traveling and being outdoors. One of his favorite places to visit are the Colorado mountains, where he enjoys hiking. In his spare time, he trains for marathons and has completed 4 to date. His next goal is to compete in a triathlon. Charlie also loves to read, watch movies, play golf, and frequently reminisces about the single hole-in-one he once hit.
