Amy is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and holds a Master of Social Work from the University of New England and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from The University of Maine. Amy relocated to Dallas three years ago and began working for a medical clinic providing mental health services to individuals with long-term illness. Prior to moving to Texas, she provided counseling to a variety of different populations including court mandated individuals with substance abuse issues, Intensive Outpatient services, and outpatient counseling to adults and adolescents. Amy also taught psychology courses at the collegiate level.

Amy specializes in treating addiction (including behavioral addictions such as sex and pornography), PTSD, complex sexual/emotional/physical trauma, depression, anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, OCD, ADHD, grief, and personality disorders. She was licensed as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor in Maine where she provided a great deal of treatment to those with a variety of addictions. Amy works with adolescents, adults, and couples. She utilizes a variety of treatment modalities including The Gottman Method to help couples learn effective communication and enhance their relationships. Amy has substantial experience treating the LGBT population including those who are transitioning. She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) which has been proven effective to treat PTSD, trauma, and change negative beliefs one has about themselves. Amy is also trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectic Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, and is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. She is very person-centered in her approach and treats each of her clients based on their specific needs. Amy considers herself to be very non-judgmental and open-minded.

Amy was raised in the western mountains of Maine where she enjoyed hiking, snowboarding, and summer days at the beach. Her interests have drastically changed since relocating to Dallas where she enjoys working out, attending live music shows, watching sports, and enjoying a good cup of coffee. Amy also loves to travel and experience new cultures.
