Alyssa is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a master’s degree in counseling from Mount Mary University and a bachelor’s in psychology from the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee. In her work, she uses several therapeutic approaches and does not rely on a “one-size-fits-all” solution. This includes Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma Focused - Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure Responsive Prevention Therapy (ERP), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). Alyssa also enjoys bringing in experiential therapies such as art, music, writing, or role-play. Currently she is in the process of becoming a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP).
Alyssa works with adolescents and adults living with anxiety, addiction, trauma, depression, personality disorders, and grief. She also has experience treating individuals with high-functioning autism, eating disorders, dissociation, bipolar disorder, adult ADD/ADHD, anger management, obsessive compulsive disorder, and crisis management. Alyssa consistently seeks out continuing education to improve her skillset with the intent to meet her client’s individual needs. It is important to her that each client feels empowered and safe in order to develop a deeper understanding of themselves through the therapeutic process.
Alyssa has previously worked in an intensive substance abuse program, providing outpatient web-based therapy, and with incarcerated individuals. She was born and raised in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin before relocating to Texas. In her free time Alyssa enjoys camping, hiking, attending concerts, and spending time outdoors with her husband and 2 dogs, Meeko and Flick.
