Alyce has experience counseling teens, adults, and providing Relationship Counseling using a variety of different approaches. She specializes in the treatment of emotional and sexual trauma, depression, PTSD, mood disorders, anger issues, addiction, bipolar disorder, and anxiety. She is trained in Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT) which is a unique therapy utilized in treating personality disorders as well as individuals who struggle with overwhelming and intense emotions that they have trouble controlling. She is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) which is utilized to treat anxiety-based disorders including PTSD, emotional/sexual trauma, and negative beliefs about oneself.
Alyce does not use a "one size fits all" approach but rather, seeks to learn about her client's life experiences and tailor her treatment to those specific needs. She has experience providing Relationship Counseling involving issues such as infidelity, resentment, communication, and unresolved emotion. She is trained in the Gottman Method, a technique proven effective for Relationship Counseling. Alyce enjoys working with the LGBTQ community and recognizes these individuals have unique experiences that should be embraced and explored. She enjoys working with individuals who are exploring their sexual identity and those who have or are currently seeking any level of gender transition.
Alyce attended school at The University of Texas at Arlington where she received a Bachelors and Masters degree in Social Work. Prior to joining DCTC, Alyce worked at an inpatient substance abuse treatment facility providing intensive services to individuals and families struggling with addiction, depression, mood disorders, and emotional trauma including sexual, physical and/or emotional abuse experienced in childhood. In addition to treating the individual struggling with addiction, Alyce provided supportive counseling to the family members that were impacted.
In her free time, Alyce is enjoying the excitement of being a new mom to a sweet baby girl. She loves spending time with her family, two dogs Roxy and Rosie, and a Bengal cat. Alyce is new to the Rockwall area and enjoys the quaint feel. She looks forward to raising her daughter in this supportive community.
Alyce is the Clinical Supervisor of DCTC - Rockwall, providing oversight and support to her team of therapists. She is also a Licensed Clinical Social Work Supervisor providing supervision to newly licensed social workers.
