Ryan is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor with a PhD in Counseling from The University of North Texas. Since obtaining his doctorate, he has served as both an educator and supervising clinician. Most recently, Ryan was an Assistant Professor at Texas Women's University, where he taught graduate level courses in the Counseling and Development Program. Prior to that, he held several positions as Director and Assistant Director at mental health organizations in DFW.
Ryan specializes in treating adults and teens struggling with anxiety, depression, attachment issues, sexual and emotional trauma, and PTSD. He also has experience working with couples utilizing The Gottman Method, an evidence based intervention. Ryan is experienced in working with the LGBTQ population including couples work. He enjoys the use of expressive arts with clients of all ages and has a particular interest in dreamwork. Ryan is a Myers-Briggs Temperament Indicator (MBTI) Master Practitioner and is trained to provide Child-Parent Relationship Training. In addition, he actively provides counseling services to members of our community through a free health clinic.
In his free time, Ryan enjoys playing board games with his wife, spending time with their two cats, Percival and Lilly, and attending plays at their local theater. He also takes classes in creative writing and is currently working on a novel.
Ryan has a passion for research that is evident in his publication of 18 peer-reviewed articles and one book chapter. He has received numerous awards for outstanding research, distinguished service, ethics, and for his medical missions work. Ryan enjoys presenting on a variety of topics and has conducted over 40 presentations.
