Malton is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor in the state of Texas. Malton began his career at Timberlawn Hospital where he worked with clients who were dually diagnosed with a mental illness and substance abuse issue. While at Timberlawn, he developed a passion for working with clients who have a history of or current struggles with substance and alcohol abuse. Malton went on to work for other local treatment centers taking on numerous tasks including leading a team of behavioral health clinicians who provided treatment to individuals with both mental illness and substance abuse. He also created curriculum specifically for young adults with these issues. Additionally, Malton worked with clients in crisis providing them connection to resources in the community to meet their specific needs whether that be detox, inpatient residential, or various outpatient services. He continues to serve as a part of a multi-disciplinary team at a local inpatient drug treatment center.
Malton specializes in treating addiction, mood disorders, depression, anxiety, and trauma. He has a special interest in working with adults experiencing life transitions and young adult males as well as the LGBTQ population. He pulls from a variety of theories when working with individuals including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectic Behavior Therapy and Solution-Focused.
In his spare time, Malton enjoys listening to music, watching comedy films, spending time with friends and most importantly, helping others. He is the youngest of 6 children and is very close with his family. He has also enjoyed volunteering to work with elementary students who struggled with reading comprehension and math at Dallas ISD.
