Jennifer is a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor in the state of Texas. She graduated from Texas A&M at Commerce with a Master of Science Degree in Counseling. She currently works at Child and Family Guidance Center in Dallas where she provides counseling to individuals with severe and persistent mental illness and their families. Jennifer works with a multidisciplinary team to help reduce psychiatric hospitalizations and incarceration. Prior to that, she worked for Timberlawn Hospital where she facilitated groups on the Children and Adolescent unit. She also worked individually with children, teens and adults experiencing suicidal or homicidal thoughts and integrated family therapy to facilitate the most improvement possible. While at Timberlawn, she completed various assessments on clients including chemical dependency assessments to identify the best treatment plan for the individual.
Jennifer takes a very nonjudgmental stance and meets all of her clients exactly where they are. She does not set expectations for them but rather works with her clients to identify what they would like to get from their therapeutic experience. She has experience working with adults and teens who struggle with substance abuse, Bipolar Disorder, Depression, PTSD, personality disorders, sexual/emotional trauma, self-harm and suicidal ideation. Jennifer has substantial experience treating severe forms of mental illness in both teens and adults. In her work with couples, Jennifer utilizes a variety of techniques including The Gottman Method.
In her personal time, Jennifer enjoys visiting museums, zoos and aquariums as well as reading and swimming. She travels with her extended family every year and volunteers her time around the holidays. Jennifer also loves spending time with her pets, a cat named Ruff and a coyote/German Shepherd named Bear.
