Apree attended Texas A&M University to obtain her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and attended Stephen F. Austin State University for her Masters's Degree in Counseling. Apree began working with the college counseling center at SFA, providing treatment to young adults, who were struggling to balance life and school. Then, she worked for Timberlawn Mental Health Hospital on their dual diagnosis unit, specializing in using Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Mindfulness based therapies to help patients struggling with addiction, anxiety, severe depression and thoughts of suicide. This type of work was also carried on in her work with Dallas Behavioral Healthcare Hospital. Apree ran an Intensive Outpatient Program at the outpatient level and provided individual, family and group therapy at both the outpatient and inpatient level of care.
Apree specializes in the treatment of depression and anxiety with teens and adults through behavioral therapies as well as the use of mindful techniques, including hypnosis. Apree is trained in EMDR, enabling her to work with a wide range of issues, including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and other anxiety based disorders. She is also trained in Hypnotherapy which can help provide relief from issues that typical "talk therapy" cannot.
Apree is also versed in handling issues related to body image, specifically eating disorders, body dysmorphic disorder, trichotillomania and cutting. In her free time, Apree enjoys painting and horseback riding as well as being a devoted aunt. Her passion for therapy developed from growing up in a home with a hypnotherapist as a father and getting to see people change from an early stage in her life.
