Alyce attended school at The University of Texas at Arlington where she received her Bachelors and Masters degree. Prior to joining DCTC, Alyce worked at an inpatient substance abuse treatment facility providing intensive services to individuals and families struggling with addiction, depression, mood disorders and emotional trauma including sexual, physical and/or emotional abuse experienced in childhood. In addition to treating the individual struggling with addiction, Alyce provided supportive counseling to the family members that were impacted.
Alyce has experience counseling teens, adults and couples using a variety of different approaches. She specializes in the treatment of emotional and sexual trauma, depression, PTSD, mood disorders, anger issues, addiction, bipolar disorder and anxiety. She is trained in Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT) which is a unique therapy utilized in treating personality disorders as well as individuals who struggle with overwhelming and intense emotions that they have trouble controlling.
Alyce does not use a "one size fits all" approach but rather, seeks to learn about her client's life experiences and tailor her treatment to those specific needs. She has experience providing marital or couples counseling involving issues such as infidelity, resentment, communication and unresolved emotion. She is a Prepare and Enrich facilitator and also trained in the Gottman Method of couples counseling. She also enjoys working with the LGBTQ community and recognizes this community has unique experiences that should be embraced and explored. She enjoys working with individuals who are struggling with or exploring their sexuality and those who have or are seeking any level of gender transition.
In her free time, Alyce loves spending time with her two dogs Roxy and Rosie and a Bengal cat, as well as her very big Lebanese family. Alyce is new to the Rockwall area and has enjoyed the quaint feel and being closer to her new husband's family.
