Alyce attended school at The University of Texas at Arlington where she received her Bachelors and Masters degree. Prior to joining DCTC, Alyce worked at an inpatient substance abuse treatment facility providing intensive services to individuals and families struggling with addiction and emotional trauma. She has extensive experience working on every level of treatment including intensive outpatient (IOP), inpatient and supportive outpatient (SOP). Alyce has also conducted various types of psychotherapy groups including a counseling group for family members of addicts and Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT) groups.
Alyce has experience counseling pre-teens, teens, adults and couples using a variety of different approaches. She specializes in the treatment of emotional and sexual trauma, PTSD, mood disorders, anger issues, addiction, eating disorders and anxiety. She is trained in Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT) which is a unique therapy utilized in treating personality disorders as well as individuals who struggle with overwhelming and intense emotions that they have trouble controlling.
In addition to DBT, Alyce utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Solution Focused Therapy to assist clients in achieving their goals. She does not use a "one size fits all" approach but rather, seeks to learn about her client's life experiences and tailor her treatment to those specific needs.
Alyce has experience providing marital or couples counseling involving issues such as infidelity, resentment, communication and unresolved emotion. She also enjoys working with the LGBTQ community and recognizes this community has unique experiences that should be embraced and explored. She employs some of these same skills in working to help families open the lines of communication.
In her free time, Alyce loves spending time with her pets, a Shepherd-mix and a Bengal cat, as well as her very big Lebanese family.
